TRUTH

The concept of "God’s truth vs. my truth" highlights the difference between absolute truth as revealed by God and subjective truth shaped by personal experiences and perspectives.

God’s Truth (Absolute, Unchanging, and Eternal)

  • John 14:6 (NLT) – Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

  • Isaiah 40:8 (NLT) – The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.

  • Psalm 119:160 (NLT) – The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.

God’s truth is the foundation for life, morality, and eternity. It does not change with culture, emotions, or circumstances.

"My Truth" (Subjective, Personal, and Often Flawed)

Many people rely on feelings, opinions, or cultural beliefs to define what is true for them. However, the Bible warns against leaning on personal understanding apart from God:

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) – Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

  • Judges 21:25 (NLT) – In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.

Why Trust in God’s Truth Over Personal Truth?

  1. God’s truth is eternal – It does not change with time (Matthew 24:35).

  2. Personal truth is limited – Humans are flawed and can be deceived (Jeremiah 17:9).

  3. God’s truth leads to life – Following His Word brings wisdom and salvation (John 8:32).

  4. Culture shifts, but God’s Word remains – What society accepts today may not be right before God (Romans 12:2).

Living by God’s Truth

  • Seek God’s Word daily (Psalm 119:105).

  • Align your life with biblical principles rather than personal preferences.

  • Pray for wisdom and discernment to distinguish between God's truth and worldly influences.

God’s truth is unchanging and trustworthy, leading us to eternal life and fulfillment. Instead of living by "my truth," we are called to surrender to His truth and walk in His ways.

God’s heart on truth is that He alone is the source of absolute truth. In a world where many promote the idea of "my truth" or relative truth, the Bible makes it clear that truth is not subjective but is found in God alone.

God's Truth vs. "My Truth"

  1. God’s Word is Truth – Jesus declared in John 17:17 (NLT): "Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth."

  2. Jesus is the Truth – John 14:6 (NLT): "Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'"

  3. Human Wisdom is Limited – Proverbs 14:12 (NLT): "There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death."

  4. God’s Truth Sets Us Free – John 8:32 (NLT): "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

  5. God’s Word Never Changes – Isaiah 40:8 (NLT): "The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."

How to Live by God’s Truth

  • Seek truth in Scripture, not personal feelings.

  • Surrender personal opinions to God's unchanging Word.

  • Walk in humility and let God define reality.
