God’s Heart on Time Valuement and Valuing Time
God desires that we use our time wisely, not just for productivity but for eternal significance. Time is a gift from God, and how we use it reflects our priorities, faith, and purpose.
Time is a Precious Gift from God
God has given us a limited amount of time on Earth, and He calls us to use it wisely. Every moment is an opportunity to glorify Him, grow spiritually, and serve others.
-
Psalm 90:12 (NLT) – "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."
-
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) – "For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."
Use Time for God’s Purposes, Not Just Productivity
God’s heart is not just about managing time efficiently but about valuing time by investing in things that align with His will—faith, relationships, service, and spiritual growth.
-
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT) – "So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days."
-
Colossians 4:5 (NLT) – "Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity."
Prioritize What is Eternal Over the Temporary
God’s heart is for us to focus on what has eternal value rather than being consumed by busyness, distractions, or worldly success. Time spent with God, in His Word, and serving others has eternal impact.
-
Matthew 6:33 (NLT) – "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."
-
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT) – "So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
Avoid Wasting Time on What Doesn’t Matter
The enemy wants us to waste time on things that drain us spiritually, emotionally, and physically. God calls us to be intentional and avoid time-stealers like fear, procrastination, and meaningless distractions.
-
Proverbs 6:9-11 (NLT) – "But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber."
-
Luke 10:41-42 (NLT) – "But the Lord said to her, 'My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.'”
Redeem the Time by Seeking God First
God desires that we spend time with Him, grow in wisdom, and use our time for His glory. When we seek Him first, everything else falls into place.
-
Isaiah 40:31 (NLT) – "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
-
James 4:14 (NLT) – "How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone."
Living with Time Valuement
God wants us to value time by living with purpose, intentionality, and wisdom. Instead of just managing time, we must invest it in what truly matters—our relationship with Him, loving others, and fulfilling His calling on our lives.
🔹 Question for Reflection:
How can you shift from just managing time to truly valuing and investing it in God’s purpose for your life?
