LOVE

The Bible teaches that love is central to God's nature and His desire for humanity. Love is more than just an emotion—it is a choice, an action, and a reflection of God’s character.

God is Love

  • 1 John 4:8 – “But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

  • 1 John 4:16 – “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”

God’s Love for Us

  • John 3:16 – “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

  • Romans 5:8 – “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

  • Ephesians 3:17-18 – “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”

The Greatest Commandment: Love God and Others

  • Matthew 22:37-39 – “Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

  • 1 John 4:19 – “We love each other because he loved us first.”

Love in Action

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

  • John 15:13 – “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

  • Galatians 5:13-14 – “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”

Love Overcomes All

  • Colossians 3:14 – “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”

  • Proverbs 10:12 – “Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses.”

  • Romans 13:10 – “Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.”

The Bible reveals that love originates from God, should be reflected in how we treat others, and is the foundation of all relationships. It is unselfish, sacrificial, and eternal—just as God’s love is for us.
