KINGDOM BUILDING

Kingdom building, from a biblical perspective, refers to advancing God's rule and reign on earth by spreading the Gospel, making disciples, and living according to His will. It is not about constructing physical structures but about expanding God's spiritual kingdom in the hearts and lives of people.

God’s Kingdom is Eternal

God’s kingdom is not of this world but is an everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed.

  • Daniel 2:44 (NLT) – “During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.”

  • Psalm 145:13 (NLT) – “For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.”

Jesus Preached the Kingdom of God

Jesus’ central message was about the kingdom of God and inviting people to enter it.

  • Mark 1:15 (NLT) – “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

  • Luke 4:43 (NLT) – “But he replied, ‘I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.’”

We Are Called to Seek and Build God’s Kingdom

As believers, we are commanded to prioritize God’s kingdom above all else.

  • Matthew 6:33 (NLT) – “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

  • Colossians 3:1-2 (NLT) – “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

Kingdom Building Through Discipleship and Evangelism

The Great Commission is Jesus’ command to build His kingdom by making disciples of all nations.

  • Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”

  • Acts 1:8 (NLT) – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Kingdom Mindset: Servanthood and Humility

Building God’s kingdom requires a heart of humility and servanthood, following Jesus’ example.

  • Mark 10:45 (NLT) – “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

  • Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT) – “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

Kingdom Building Through Justice, Mercy, and Love

God’s kingdom is also advanced when believers practice justice, love, and mercy in their communities.

  • Micah 6:8 (NLT) – “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

  • Romans 14:17 (NLT) – “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

God Will Bring His Kingdom to Full Completion

Though we work to advance the kingdom now, its full realization will come when Christ returns.

  • Revelation 11:15 (NLT) – “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.”

  • Matthew 24:14 (NLT) – “And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”

Kingdom building is about living for God’s purposes, sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and demonstrating His love and justice in the world. It requires a mindset of seeking God first, serving others, and living with the hope of His eternal reign.

God’s Heart on Kingdom Building

God’s heart for kingdom building is centered on His desire to establish His rule, redeem humanity, and restore creation through Jesus Christ. His kingdom is not one of earthly power but of righteousness, peace, and love. From the beginning, God’s plan has been to dwell with His people and extend His glory throughout the earth.

God Desires to Establish His Kingdom

God’s heart is for His kingdom to be made known, and He calls His people to participate in its expansion.

  • Isaiah 9:7 (NLT) – “His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!”

  • Psalm 22:27-28 (NLT) – “The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to him. All the families of the nations will bow down before him. For royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations.”

Jesus Came to Bring God’s Kingdom

Jesus’ mission was to reveal and establish God’s kingdom, calling people to repentance and faith.

  • Luke 4:43 (NLT) – “But he replied, ‘I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.’”

  • Matthew 4:17 (NLT) – “From then on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.’”

God’s Heart is for All People to Enter His Kingdom

God longs for every person to come to salvation and be part of His eternal kingdom.

  • 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) – “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

  • Revelation 5:9-10 (NLT) – “For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.”

God Calls His People to Be Kingdom Builders

God entrusts His followers with the mission of spreading His kingdom through discipleship and love.

  • Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”

  • 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NLT) – “For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.”

God’s Kingdom is Built Through Justice, Mercy, and Love

Kingdom building is not just about words, but about living out God’s love and righteousness in the world.

God’s Kingdom Will Be Fully Established in Eternity

Though we work to advance God’s kingdom now, it will be fully realized when Christ returns.

  • Revelation 11:15 (NLT) – “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.”

  • Matthew 25:34 (NLT) – “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.’”

God’s heart for kingdom building is about restoring His creation, saving the lost, and calling His people to be active in sharing His love and truth. He desires for all to know Him and be part of His eternal kingdom. As believers, we are called to live as kingdom-minded people, seeking His will, making disciples, and bringing His justice and mercy into the world.
