GOD DREAMS

God Speaks Through Dreams

All throughout Scripture, God has used dreams to communicate His will, reveal the future, give warnings, or offer encouragement.

  • Job 33:14-16 (NLT)

"For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears..."

Dreams Are Often Prophetic

God may use dreams to reveal His plans or direct someone's path. These dreams often align with His Word and point toward His greater purpose.

  • Amos 3:7 (NLT)

"Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets."

Examples in Scripture

  • Joseph (Genesis 37) – Dreamed of future leadership and family reconciliation.

  • Daniel (Daniel 2 & 7) – Interpreted and received divine visions about kingdoms and end times.

  • Joseph (Mary’s husband) – Received direction and warnings through dreams (Matthew 1–2).

Not All Dreams Are From God

While God can speak through dreams, not every dream is divine. Discernment is essential.

  • Jeremiah 23:32 (NLT)

"I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin."

Dreams Align With God’s Word

God will never give a dream that contradicts Scripture. Test dreams with the Bible and prayerfully seek God’s confirmation.

Discerning God Dreams

Not all dreams are from God, but He does speak through dreams (Joel 2:28, Genesis 37, Matthew 1–2). Discerning His voice requires:

Ask:

  • Testing the dream – Does it align with Scripture?
  • Seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance (John 16:13)
  • Waiting for confirmation – God often confirms through His Word, peace, and godly counsel.
  • Key Scriptures:

    • Job 33:14–16 (NLT) – “For God speaks again and again… He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night…”

    • Proverbs 3:5–6 – Trust God with your interpretation and next steps.
