FAITH

What Is Faith?

Faith is one of the most foundational principles in the Bible. It is complete trust in God, His character, His promises, and His plan, even when we cannot see the full picture.

Biblical Definition of Faith

  • Hebrews 11:1"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
  • 2 Corinthians 5:7"For we live by faith, not by sight."

👉 Faith is believing in God's promises even when they are not yet visible.

Faith Comes from Hearing God's Word

  • Romans 10:17"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."
  • John 20:29"Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'”

👉 Faith grows as we listen to and trust in God’s Word.

Faith Is Essential for Pleasing God

  • Hebrews 11:6"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
  • James 1:6"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."

👉 Faith is the key to a deep relationship with God and experiencing His blessings.

Faith Leads to Action

  • James 2:17"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
  • Matthew 17:20"Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

👉 Faith is not just belief—it moves us to trust and obey God in our daily lives.

Faith Sustains Us Through Trials

  • Isaiah 41:10"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
  • 1 Peter 1:6-7"In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

👉 Faith helps us endure hardships, knowing that God is in control.

Salvation Comes Through Faith in Jesus Christ

  • Ephesians 2:8-9"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
  • John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

👉 Faith in Jesus is the only way to receive salvation and eternal life.

Faith is trusting in God, believing in His Word, and acting upon it. It is the foundation of our relationship with Him, the key to overcoming struggles, and the path to eternal life.

Throughout Scripture, God shows that faith pleases Him, opens the door for miracles, and draws us closer to Him.

👉 God’s heart is that we would have faith in His goodness and trust that He will reward those who earnestly seek Him.

God Desires Us to Trust Him Fully

  • Proverbs 3:5-6"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

👉 God’s heart is that we would place our trust fully in Him, rather than relying on our own understanding or wisdom.

Faith Unlocks the Power of God

  • Matthew 17:20"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"

  • James 4:8"Come near to God and he will come near to you."

👉 God desires that our faith would draw us closer to Him. As we believe and trust in Him, He will draw near to us and we experience His presence.

God Uses Faith to Develop Our Character

  • Romans 5:3-4"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

God Wants Us to Walk by Faith, Not Sight

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7"For we live by faith, not by sight."

👉 God’s heart is for us to live according to His promises, not our circumstances. He calls us to trust in what He says over what we see with our natural eyes.

God’s heart on faith is that He wants us to fully trust Him, believe in His Word, and follow His lead in every area of our lives. Faith is the gateway to experiencing His power, the foundation of our relationship with Him, and the way to receive salvation through Jesus.

God desires that our faith would be genuine, unwavering, and growing, even in the face of challenges, because faith in Him pleases Him and unlocks His work in our lives.
